Playful form

DJ Toothy

A bluetooth speaker designed for self-brand.

The front view looks like a funny face.

The making process was challenging and helped me to learn better about how things work.

Making process

Shows the steps in the process of making a speaker.

Prototypes with 10lb(pink) & 20lb (yellow)foam. The first attempt is used to identify and solve problems in my design.

Start the final model with 20lb of foam. Use mill machine to cut beveled surfaces. We'll see wide and narrow variations from above.

Use bondo to filled out the tiny holes and gaps. Make sure the surfaces are smooth and flat.

Sanding with different grits of sandpaper. Then it got ready for the spray paint.

Laser cut the 1/8 smoky acrylic sheet and got the shape which fit the form. Sand the edges with acrylic polish. This piece was bent by a heat bar, I made a bending jig for this piece.

First attempt to simply assembled.

Put screws in those holes before go paint it. Prevents spray paint from entering the hole and interfering with later installation.

Painted with Porsche orange. And added layers of clear coat to protect the paint.

Start to assemble the speaker with different types of screws, hand-drill and other tools.
